Praises & Prayers

We are so grateful to God for all that He does in our lives. Even in the most difficult of our circumstances, we want to see Him glorified.

We want to ask prayer for the residents of Jardim Bougainville, where we live.  Out of the 192 families that live in our complex, we are estimating that only but a handful of those families attend any Evangelical Congregation on a consistent basis.  We are seeing doors open in forming friendships here, but we are wanting to see commitment among some key families to spend time in a bible study with us.  Please pray for the 8 families we have shared with to take time out of their busy schedules to spend time in the Word of God.

In our research of Manaus, we have found out more about the international population here.  There are substaintial numbers of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese arriving immigrants and descendants living here.  Just this year, the Japanese Community celebrated 100 years of being in Brasil.  Also, because of coming to do business in the Industrial District, there are Germans, Dutch, French, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Colombians, Venezuelans, and Peruvians.  We have found that there are a few churches that worship in Japanese, Korean and Chinese.  However, we discovered no churches that worship in Spanish or English.  It is our heart to meet these people and share with them.  Many have interest in practicing their English skills and all have the need to study Brazilian Portuguese.  Please pray with us that God would continue to open doors with key people within these nationalities for us to build relationships with here.

Among the professional class, many doors are opening, but just as many remained closed.  The professional class in Manaus are the people who generally feel they have no need for church and no time in their lives for God.  Many live in closed access condominuims, and unless you know someone who lives there- you have no hope of access.  So, we must find a need that these upper class have; many times it is the need to improve their English skills, but it not limited.  In reality, relationships are the key to reaching professionals for Christ.  We are praying and working toward forming a team of Brazilian Christians that already have a friendship with those in the professional class to start bible studies.  Please pray for this team that we are forming, that God would lead to us the people He is bringing out to work among professionals.

Please continue to lift up the Baptist Children's Home.  www.larbatistamanaus.com.br

We are still offering bible studies in English at FISK (English and Spanish language school).  Please continue to ask that God be working in the hearts of those who attend.

May the grace of God be abundant in your lives.
